Andrew Seidel Coming to Chicago to Promote His New Book, “The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism is Un-American”
Andrew Seidel, Director of Strategic Response at the Freedom From Religion Foundation, has added Chicago as a stop on his national tour to promote his new book, “The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism is Un-American.”
The Freedom From Religion Foundation Metropolitan Chicago Chapter will co-sponsor, along with the End of the Line Humanists. an evening discussion between Mr. Seidel and Jerry Coyne, University of Chicago professor of evolutionary biology. Professor Coyne will interview Mr. Seidel about his book, which was compiled over a period of 10 years.
In “The Founding Myth,” Mr. Seidel builds a case against the false premise that the United States was founded on Christian principles by comparing the Ten Commandments to the Constitution and contrasting biblical doctrine with America’s founding philosophy, showing that the Bible contradicts the Declaration of Independence’s central tenets. Thoroughly researched, this persuasively argued and fascinating book proves that America was not built on the Bible and that Christian nationalism is, in fact, un-American.
This event is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Fort Dearborn Room B in the Student Center East building, 750 S. Halsted St., Chicago, IL 60607, from 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Please note, space is limited.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and Mr. Seidel will conduct a book signing at the conclusion of the discussion.
